I have always been a painter who portrays the beautiful subjects and landscapes of our wonderful area. I work both in my studio and in plein air, which means I work on location outside with nature. This allows me to capture the true light and essensce of my subjects. Sometimes the painting starts to relate very directly to either sights seen or experiences felt. For me nature is not landscape, but the dynamism of visual forces... an event rather than an appearance. These forces can only be tackled by treating color and form as ultimate identities, freeing them from all descriptive or functional roles. My goal is for you to feel the same joy looking at my paintings as I had painting them. I am an executive member of the Santa Barbara Art Association and Scape, a local group of plein air painters. I exhibit my work regularly in galleries and art shows. My work is represented in many private collections and I would welcome an opportunity to paint something for you. Besides canvases, I also paint murals to enhance your home.
